Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, and his aides departed for Saudi Arabia to prepare for improved implementation of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.

"President Prabowo Subianto hopes for a better Hajj pilgrimage with more affordable service costs. This is a challenge for all of us," Umar noted in a statement issued on Sunday.

The minister stated that he is set to undertake several activities during his visit, including a meeting with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq F. Al Rabiah.

The meeting is planned to finalize the Indonesia-Saudi Arabia 2025 Hajj pilgrimage agreements.

"A cooperation agreement on the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage implementation will be signed," Umar added.

He also revealed plans to attend an exhibition aimed at identifying the most suitable Hajj service providers for collaboration on this year’s annual Islamic pilgrimage.

Umar emphasized that his ministry is working with various parties, including the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), to pursue improvements in Hajj services.

He further stressed that the government is striving to enhance this year's Hajj services despite a reduction in fees.

BPH Head Mochamad Irfan Yusuf is among the officials accompanying Umar on the Saudi visit.
