The Pesisir Selatan Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that the floods affected four villages in the Batang Kapas sub-district, with floodwaters reaching depths of approximately 60 centimeters.
"A joint team has been dispatched to provide assistance and assess the disaster's impacts," said Defrisiswardi, head of the agency's emergency and logistics division, on Saturday.
He noted that rain-triggered floods also affected villages in the sub-districts of IV Jurai and Sutera, inundating hundreds of homes.
Heavy rains lashing Pesisir Selatan on Friday toppled trees, rendering the Padang-Bengkulu national road impassable. A joint team worked to clear the road by cutting down the fallen trees.
Torrential rains also triggered landslides in IV Jurai and Batang Kapas, hampering access to the national road connecting the provincial capital, Padang, to cities in Bengkulu.
Yuskardi, the agency's acting head, stated that the joint team restored access to the national road on Saturday at around 1 a.m. local time.
"The road is passable, but it is not yet fully functional due to remaining landslide debris," he said. "We have only received limited heavy-duty tools and equipment for clearing the road."
