These scenarios were suggested in light of possible disputes and delays in the inauguration process, all while adhering to Law No.10 of 2016 regarding the regional head election.
"The inauguration of elected regional heads is governed by law, and there are various interpretations, arising mainly from technical issues and other aspects, such as politics, economics, and government stability," he remarked.
Under Option 1, the president inaugurates governors, deputy governors, district heads, deputy district heads, mayors, and deputy mayors on February 6, 2025. There is also the option to inaugurate governors, district heads, and mayors separately.
He explained that option 1 is suitable for regional heads without disputes pending in the Constitutional Court. According to Karnavian, this option is favored by the elected regional heads.
Option 2 is intended for regional heads whose disputes are currently being processed in the Constitutional Court and could see the inauguration process completed in April 2025. Karnavian stated that this option aims to provide political certainty for regional leaders.
Option 3 addresses regional heads who have received dismissal decisions from the Constitutional Court, which could be issued between February 13 and 15, 2025, leading to a possible inauguration in March 2025.
Nevertheless, he again clarified that the inauguration process can be conducted separately for regional heads without disputes and those whose cases are still pending in the Constitutional Court.
