Jakarta (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo has expressed support for investment from South Korea's Simple Planet for the development of cell technology-based sports food to help nurture the younger generation who could become future athletes.

"I believe this is a great opportunity to support the development of Indonesian children," Ariotedjo said during a meeting with Simple Planet and S&S Lab Korea, as reported on the ministry's official website, which was accessed from here on Wednesday.

Simple Planet is a biotechnology company based in Seoul that focuses on protein-based food alternatives. They have approached the Indonesian government to discuss the development of sports nutrition based on cell technology.

Ariotedjo expressed his support for the investment from Simple Planet, aligning with the Indonesian government's ongoing efforts to tackle stunting in children.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Simple Planet, Dominic Jeong, expressed his side's interest in providing nutrition for the Indonesian people, particularly for children and the younger generation.

He explained that their focus is on developing high-solid protein based on cell technology, which is beneficial for muscle development and overall growth in children.

"Our cell-based high-solid protein has made it possible to provide more nutritious breakfast options for everyone," he said.

The cell-based protein they plan to introduce for Indonesian children is part of the long-term vision to address hunger and nutrition issues.

Jeong said that they have been in contact with several companies in Indonesia, which have shown a positive response toward collaboration.

"We are planning to build a factory in Indonesia to help combat stunting and meet the protein needs of athletes," he added.
