Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Whoosh high-speed railway, connecting Jakarta with Bandung, accommodated around 66 thousand passengers during the long weekend holiday for Isra Mi'raj and Chinese New Year on January 24-26, 2025.

Eva Chairunisa, a representative for the fast train operator PT KCIC, noted in Jakarta on Monday that the average daily passenger count during the period reached 22 thousand, marking a significant 29 percent increase from the usual 17 thousand on regular days.

She noted that passenger traffic peaked on Sunday (January 26), with Southeast Asia's first high-speed train service accommodating about 22,800 travelers.

"As of this morning, Monday, January 27, 2025, as many as 19 thousand tickets have been sold. Today's passenger count is projected to cross 21 thousand since tickets are still available for sale until the last trip tonight," she pointed out.

Chairunisa then highlighted that PT KCIC had sold about 105 thousand tickets for Whoosh trips scheduled during the January 24-29 holiday period.

"Passengers traveling from the Halim Station in Jakarta to the Padalarang Station (West Bandung) dominated the figure, accounting for 80 percent of the total passenger count. The remainder traveled from Halim to Tegalluar Summarecon and from Halim to Karawang," she noted.

She also recommended that passengers disembarking at Padalarang Station take feeder trains for easier access to other regions in Greater Bandung, as these schedules of the trains have been synchronized with Whoosh's timetable.

Furthermore, the officer emphasized PT KCIC's commitment to delivering exceptional travel experiences to all passengers.

"We view this long holiday as a crucial moment to offer top-notch services. The 29 percent increase in the number of passengers reflects people's high level of trust in Whoosh as a fast and reliable mode of transportation," she concluded.
