"For more than a hundred days, I have not observed state officials hindering civil liberties. I have also not seen state officials imprisoning their people," Pigai remarked at a working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Parliament Complex here on Wednesday.
He highlighted that the government offers people complete freedom to express their opinions, thoughts, and sentiments, ensuring that freedom of expression is facilitated effectively.
"The dynamics of democracy are unfolding safely and peacefully, whether it be opinions, thoughts, public sentiments, perspectives of the opposition, political parties, civil society, activists, and agencies with authority," he explained.
"Of course, freedom is unlimited. According to the Human Rights Law, freedom can only be restricted by law. Therefore, (the government) adheres to the legal framework," Pigai further stated.
In addition to discussing freedom of opinion, Pigai highlighted that President Prabowo's administration has not violated democratic principles during its first 100 working days.
"The government has not interfered with democratic processes that occurred or that we had solved in the past, whether it is election of party leaders, community organizations, or regional heads, everyone has freedom," he remarked.
The minister noted that the successful holding of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) represents a significant accomplishment of President Prabowo's administration in its first 100 working days and signifies hope for advancing human rights in the country.
