Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Social Affairs Ministry and the Human Rights Ministry are working together to provide social security protection to vulnerable groups, including witnesses and victims of human rights abuses.

During a press conference held at the Social Affairs Ministry's Office here on Tuesday, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that his meeting with Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai presented an opportunity to collaborate on various intersecting programs, including those aimed at addressing issues of the past.

"We have provided support for some of the existing programs, and we discussed the important keys, which are (to) ensure (human rights) respect, protection, and access. We are committed to social protection," he remarked.

Minister Saifullah emphasized that assistance in the form of social protection and security is provided to groups that meet the target criteria.

Meanwhile, Minister Pigai underscored that human rights are a central focus of President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita mission.

Consequently, his ministry continues to work with other government agencies, local governments, and various elements of society to mainstream the issue of human rights.

As part of this initiative, the two ministries collaborate, including identifying groups that need state support to enhance their dignity, self-esteem, and overall well-being.

"In the previous discussions, we identified 12 groups. However, upon further review, we found 27 groups that the state must reach," he remarked.

These 27 groups, which include witnesses and victims of human rights abuses, as well as community groups in conflict areas, require state intervention to address human rights issues.

These groups are prioritized under the Asta Cita framework, which seeks to promote human rights-oriented policies in society.
