Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The government has scheduled a retreat for 505 regional heads elected in last year's local elections, from February 21 to 28, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto announced.

Speaking at the Yogyakarta Palace on Sunday, he stated that the event will be held at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, following the leaders' simultaneous inauguration in Jakarta on February 20.

"The President has designated Magelang as the venue for briefing the leaders, starting with the Red and White Cabinet members," he said, referencing a cabinet retreat held at the same location in October.

Sugiarto explained that the government chose the Military Academy again for the retreat to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

"It would be more effective and efficient to organize the retreat at the same venue, as we can reuse the tents from the ministerial retreat," he pointed out.

The deputy minister outlined several possible departure scenarios for the regional heads traveling to the Military Academy.

One option is to gather all participants at the Yogyakarta Palace before proceeding to Magelang by bus.

He expressed hope that Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengku Buwono X would be willing to see off the regional heads at the palace if this scenario is chosen.

"The other option is to meet and gather directly in Magelang," he added.

He then stated that participants will receive briefings on three main topics during the retreat: the tasks and functions of regional heads, President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita missions, and leadership.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati is scheduled to attend the retreat to brief the regional leaders on budget efficiency, he added.

Sugiarto confirmed that the Home Affairs Ministry and the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) are developing the program for the retreat.
