The minister told the press here on Tuesday that his ministry is ready to make adjustments so that budget efficiency is carried out in keeping with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, namely affecting stationery procurements and ceremonial events at hotels.
He further emphasized his and his ministry's support for the budget efficiency policy.
"From the beginning, we have supported this. That's why we prove it: events staying at hotels (have been eliminated)," he said.
Due to the budget efficiency policy, the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions' 2025 budget has been reduced by Rp1,034,396,000,000 (around US$63.1 million).
This was conveyed by chair of Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR), Lasarus, during a meeting with several ministries, including the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions in Jakarta on February 6, 2025.
He disclosed that with the budget efficiency, the ministry's budget has been reduced to Rp1,157,991,697,000 (around US$70.7 million).
Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 requires the government budget in the state and regional budget for 2025 to be reduced by Rp306.69 trillion (around US$18.7 billion).
Ministries and agencies have been asked to slash their budget by Rp256.1 trillion, meanwhile transfers to regions will need to be cut by Rp50.59 trillion (around US$3.09 billion).
According to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the President has called for budget efficiency so that the budget can be used for programs that would impact the community more directly.
