He addressed Indonesian village heads during the dissemination of Village Minister's Regulation No. 2 of 2024 concerning the operational instructions for utilizing the 2025 village funds, as observed from his ministry's YouTube channel here on Wednesday.
"I would like to reiterate the need for obedience and compliance in utilizing the village funds," he remarked.
Susanto noted that the ministerial regulation specifies that village funds should be directed towards several priority initiatives, including strengthening food security, with at least 20 percent of the funds designated for this purpose.
He then emphasized that the regulation stipulates that rural administrations must earmark 15 percent of the village funds for handling extreme poverty.
He explained that if a village does not have extremely poor residents, the government would issue a technical guideline for utilizing the mentioned portion of the funds.
The minister elaborated further on the regulation, noting that the central government demands that rural leaders utilize the village funds to help their communities adapt to climate change and its impacts.
Furthermore, he underlined that the 2025 village funds are designated to assist rural regions in improving the quality of basic health services, including those linked to stunting prevention.
In addition, Susanto underscored that the village funds are expected to empower villages to tap into their potentials, embrace digital technologies, implement labor-intensive empowerment programs, and fund other similar programs.
