Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to continue their investment cooperation in the areas of digital economy, food, and infrastructure.

During the 2025 World Governments Summit in Dubai, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with the UAE Minister of Investment, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, on Wednesday (February 12).

The meeting was a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's trip to the UAE on November 23, 2024.

One of the agreements was the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on gas cooperation with Mubadala Energy in the Andaman Sea.

In addition, both sides have begun exploring potential investments from the UAE into Indonesia through Special Economic Zones (SEZ) to establish a data center ecosystem and develop infrastructure through the National Strategic Project (PSN).

"UAE will be crucial in helping to create a resilient and reliable data center ecosystem in Indonesia by investing in several SEZs, such as the Nongsa Digital Park (NDP) SEZ in Batam," Hartarto remarked here on Thursday.

The government aims to develop a data center in NDP SEZ, with an investment target of 400 Megawatts (MW), equivalent to USD4 billion.

The NDP SEZ ecosystem is also focused on accommodating various projects related to the advancement of science and technology, including semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).

In addition to investment plans in the technology sector, Hartarto and Alsuwaidi discussed airport and port development as well as a plan to construct a Giant Sea Wall along Java Island's northern coast.

"The UAE's commitment to Indonesia's infrastructure development will have a direct impact on the wider community. We highly appreciate the UAE's support in continuing several infrastructure projects within the PSN and discussing the Giant Sea Wall construction plan," he stated.
