Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's capital city, Jakarta, is collaborating with Nonsan city of South Korea's Chungcheong province to hold the Nonsan Strawberry Festival at a South Jakarta mall from February 13–16, 2025.

"Jakarta is among the cities chosen to host the Nonsan Strawberry Festival. We have also been invited to participate in a fruit festival scheduled for late March 2025 in Nonsan," Jakarta acting governor Teguh Setyabudi said at Jakarta Town Hall on Thursday.

He added that the Jakarta provincial government intends to make the most of the upcoming festival in Nonsan to introduce and promote Jakarta's local fruit products.

Furthermore, he expressed the hope that the collaboration would lead to other schemes of cooperation with the Nonsan municipal government in the future.

"This is the beginning of our plan for more forms of cooperation," he said.

The Kota Kasablanka Mall in South Jakarta has been designated as the venue for the festival, which aims to highlight strawberries as the featured commodity of Nonsan city.

Nonsan Mayor Baek Sung-hyeon, on his part, commended the Jakarta government for its willingness to provide a space to introduce his city's strawberry products to Indonesian residents in the capital.

"We are very grateful to the Jakarta provincial government for setting up a venue for us to showcase the quality of strawberries from Nonsan," he said.

He also expressed his keenness to engage the Jakarta government in further initiatives to introduce and promote other products.

"We are hoping for future cooperation with Jakarta in activities dedicated to various agricultural products and other commodities," the mayor said.
