Director General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation at the ministry Eniya Listiani Dewi said that the draft bill on new and renewable energy is still lending the greatest support for providing incentives that have not been discussed further.
"So, basically that is what makes us stuck because there are no regulations yet," she explained on the sidelines of the Toyota Series Carbon Neutrality event in Jakarta on Friday.
According to Dewi, there is an article in the bill that emphasizes that actors or business entities that carry out climate mitigation or emission reduction activities will receive incentives via carbon emissions.
"There is nothing to divert, for example, diverting incentives from fossils to renewables. Well, later when there is a legal basis for the hook, we will try to figure out how the model is," she said.
She further informed that in addition to regulations and incentives, the price of hydrogen-powered vehicles is among the topics of discussion.
She noted that Japan, which has started marketing hydrogen-powered vehicles, is selling such vehicles at a fairly affordable price of around 1.7 million Japanese yen, equivalent to Rp180.9 million (USD11,159).
Therefore, if Indonesia enters the phase of hydrogen-powered vehicle development, it is expected that many automotive manufacturers will be interested in producing it domestically at more affordable prices, she said.
So far, Indonesia has two hydrogen fueling stations. They are located in Senayan, South Jakarta, and Karawang, West Java.
The two hydrogen fueling stations are considered to be a stimulus for the development of hydrogen-based vehicles in the country.
