Bogor (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that he will not hesitate to eradicate corruption and confront those opposed to the welfare programs promoted by his government.

"Our opponents are the corrupt, the thieves. We are not afraid (of them), we will continue to clean them up," he said at the 17th anniversary commemoration of the Gerindra Party in Sentul, West Java, on Saturday.

According to Prabowo, the corrupt have been given ultimatums and stern warnings several times to return stolen public money.

However, these warnings have been ignored. As a result, he has, on several occasions, emphasized the strong determination of the Red and White Cabinet to put an end to graft.

On Friday, Prabowo revealed the concerning national corruption rate while delivering his remarks at the World Government Summit 2025.

He stated that many corruption cases, such as the misuse of government funds, embezzlement, and tax policies that only favor businesses, have had a negative impact on society.

Therefore, he said he is determined to deal with the corrupt firmly and without discrimination.

One of the efforts to fight corruption in government institutions is the budget cut policy, which has resulted in savings of around US$20 billion.

The savings will be used for various strategic and sustainable projects, Prabowo promised.

"I am sure that if I do not save the money, it will just disappear. I face some resistance from the entrenched bureaucracy. Some of them consider themselves untouchable, but I am determined to act, I am determined to enforce the law," he added.
