Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar emphasized the importance of mastering foreign languages, especially in the digital world, which remains a challenge for many Indonesians.

"We must learn to speak the language to advance Indonesia. We need to be relevant to the outside world so that Indonesia is seen not just as a market but also as a creator," she stated in a press release received here on Friday.

Irene made this statement at the Dicoding Connect 2025 event organized by Dicoding Indonesia.

She believes that such events can broaden perspectives and create collaboration opportunities in the digital industry.

This event brought together developers, mentors, and technology industry players in an interactive forum. Participants can discuss, share experiences, and network with other professionals in the technology field.

Irene also shared the Ministry of Creative Economy's initiative to promote the digital world, including the "Emak-Emak Matic" program, which aims to increase technology literacy among housewives.

This program targets all sections of society, especially housewives and those without access to higher education. Since its launch last year, the program has been active in six cities and is planned to be expanded to 40 cities by 2025.

"This program seeks to support people unable to pursue a higher level education and empower women at home. With their contributions, this program will continue to grow and reach more cities by 2025," she remarked.

Irene also highlighted the "Global Game Jam" that took place in January, where developers created a game prototype in 48 hours. The game prototype was activated in 12 cities across Indonesia.

This prototype will later be developed further and adapted for use in game corners in public spaces as entertainment.
