Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening access to training and job placement for people with disabilities.

"I invite all parties to play an active role in providing job opportunities to people with disabilities," the minister said, as quoted from an official statement here on Monday.

Yassierli noted that despite the implementation of various policies, the empowerment of workers with disabilities continues to face challenges.

Challenges in the field have led to the less-than-optimal implementation of measures to empower disabled people.

"This is reflected by the limited placement of disabled workers every year and the small number of companies that employ them," the minister remarked.

He also highlighted that the government has designed various strategic measures to address this problem, such as establishing a special work unit focused on empowering people with disabilities in the employment sector and increasing their competence through training and certification.

Furthermore, the government is ensuring inclusive and sustainable job placement as well as bolstering the Disability Service Units in regions as the spearhead of local empowerment.

An official at the Ministry of Manpower, Haryanto, stated that workshops, such as the Workshop on Strengthening Training and Job Placement Opportunities for People with Disabilities, held in Jakarta on Monday, can encourage synergy among stakeholders in creating training and job opportunities for people with disabilities.

Meanwhile, Australian Chargé d'Affaires to Indonesia Gita Kamath emphasized that providing work opportunities for disabled people is not merely a human rights issue but also crucial for unlocking the economic potential, driving innovation, and building a more inclusive community.
