According to Rahayu, modest fashion has become a popular lifestyle choice. As the world's largest Muslim-majority country, Indonesia can position itself as a global center for modest fashion.
According to government data, Indonesia’s Muslim fashion consumption is valued at approximately US$20 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 18.2 percent.
However, Indonesia has yet to become a major global exporter of modest fashion, a market still dominated by Turkey, China, and India.
"As the world's largest Muslim-majority country, we should not remain mere consumers," she said. "We must start thinking globally."
"Innovation is a key pillar of the creative economy. It must include adaptation and collaboration. Through innovation, we can create added value," she said.
She also praised the local modest fashion industry's efforts to represent Indonesia at the recent London Muslim Shopping Festival.
