Jakarta (ANTARA) - Military and police officers at various positions and levels are set to utilize Maung MV3 tactical vehicles, produced by state-run defense equipment manufacturer PT Pindad, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin stated.

The minister revealed that the domestically made vehicles will be used by the commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the chief of the National Police (Polri), leaders of the Army (TNI-AD), Navy (TNI-AL), and Air Force (TNI-AU), as well as personnel stationed at local levels.

Speaking at Husein Sastranegara Air Base in Bandung City, West Java, on Saturday, Sjamsoeddin highlighted that the local-level personnel include village supervisory non-commissioned soldiers (Babinsa) and public security and order supervising police officers (Bhabinkamtibmas).

The minister emphasized that the Maung MV3 units designated for high-ranking military and police officers would come with air conditioners, whereas those meant for field personnel would lack a fully enclosed cabin.

Sjamsoeddin then spoke highly of the national tactical vehicles, saying that he views them as a source of pride for the Indonesian nation.

He affirmed that the presence of these vehicles indicates that our national defense industry is on the rise and ready to contribute to safeguarding Indonesia's national stability.

Sjamsoeddin made these remarks during the handover of 700 units of Maung MV3 to the TNI and the Polri.

In detail, 50 units have been handed over to the TNI headquarters, 400 units to the Army (TNI-AD), 100 units to the Navy (TNI-AL), 100 units to the Air Force (TNI-AU), and 50 units to the Polri.

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Chief of Staff of the TNI-AD General Maruli Simanjuntak, Chief of Staff of the TNI-AU Marshal Tonny Harjono, and Chief of Staff of the TNI-AL Admiral Muhammad Ali also attended the handover ceremony.

Before the handover, these high-ranking security officers inspected the Maung MV3 units, which have been customized with colors matching those of each receiving institution.
