"We discussed with the coordinating minister for infrastructure to conduct an audit of the related infrastructure," Pratikno remarked on Wednesday.
He explained that the infrastructure audit aims to examine whether land use aligns with its designated purpose.
Pratikno's side also highlighted the importance of public awareness of proper garbage disposal and waste management.
"Also, of course, daily waste management," he remarked.
Currently, the government continues to evacuate people affected by the flooding in Bekasi City and its surrounding areas, followed by the distribution of basic necessities for affected residents.
"This evacuation is important for emergency response and also the fulfillment of basic needs such as food and clothing," the minister stated.
According to data from the Emergency Response Task Force of the West Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) and the Bekasi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the seven sub-districts of East Bekasi, North Bekasi, South Bekasi, Medan Satria, Jatiasih, Pondok Gede, and Rawalumbu are affected by the flood disaster.
The floods in Bekasi have resulted from intense rainfall since March 3, which caused rivers in Bekasi City to overflow and inundate residential areas and several public facilities.
Field conditions as of March 4, 2025, showed the floodwaters had yet to recede, accompanied by power outages in several areas.
The authorities continue to evacuate residents and record data on victims and affected public facilities.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka had instructed related authorities to prioritize food and health services needs for victims, especially during the Ramadan month.
The vice president made this statement during a visit to the largest evacuation point for flood victims in Bekasi at the BNPB Logistics and Equipment Office in Bekasi City on Wednesday.
"This disaster coincided with the Ramadan month when Muslims are fasting. Therefore, the food and health services needs of refugees must be truly considered," he emphasized.
