Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin emphasized that this collaboration is essential to address the alleged corruption in crude oil imports and fuel processing involving Pertamina’s subsidiaries and cooperation contract contractors between 2018 and 2023.
"The ongoing legal enforcement measures in this case are a manifestation of the collaboration between the Attorney General's Office and Pertamina to achieve good governance within the company," he noted at his office in Jakarta on Thursday.
Burhanuddin stressed that in handling the corruption allegations, the AGO is not influenced by any external parties or interests. He affirmed that the legal enforcement actions align with President Prabowo Subianto’s goals and the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
"Investigators are currently working on this case, collaborating with financial experts to calculate the actual state losses incurred during the 2018-2023 period," he noted.
The attorney general has vowed to take firm action against any SOEs found to be involved in corrupt practices.
On the same occasion, the President Director of Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, expressed appreciation for the measures taken by Burhanuddin's office.
"For us at Pertamina, this is a moment for introspection and identifying areas for improvement. We are determined to enhance our corporate governance," he affirmed.
Investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes have been investigating the state oil and gas giant for alleged corrupt activities involving high-ranking officers of its subsidiaries.
The AGO has named nine individuals as suspects, including President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Riva Siahaan; President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping, Yoki Firmandi; and Feedstock and Product Optimization Director of PT Kilang Pertamina International, Sani Saifuddin.
Following the announcement, prosecutors began searches for evidence and questioning witnesses, including technical officers at Pertamina.
