Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has expressed appreciation for national oil and gas company Pertamina’s plan to have its property subsidiary, Patra Jasa, develop an international research center in Indonesia’s future capital, Nusantara.

OIKN’s Deputy for Funding and Investment, Agung Wicaksono, stated that the energy giant’s subholding plans to establish the project in an area designated as Nusantara's research and innovation hub.

"This project is expected to serve as a catalyst for the development of research and innovation ecosystems in the region," he noted, as cited from a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

In implementing the project, Wicaksono added that Pertamina will collaborate with the Bakrie Group to attract investors in the education, research, and innovation sectors.

He further explained that the research center would focus on green energy development and sustainability principles, aligning with Indonesia’s vision of making Nusantara -- currently under construction in East Kalimantan --a world-class, eco-friendly capital city.

Additionally, the official mentioned that OIKN and Patra Jasa had signed a cooperation agreement on land use in Nusantara, aiming to provide legal certainty for potential investors and foster a favorable investment climate.

Earlier, President Director of Patra Jasa, Ray S.M. Daulay, emphasized the company’s commitment to shaping Nusantara as an environmentally friendly city by supporting the construction of buildings powered by low-emission energy sources, contributing to Indonesia’s net-zero emissions target.

Patra Jasa also plans to develop a research facility to help the government enhance the skills and capabilities of Indonesian human resources.

Furthermore, Daulay stated that the company intends to allocate land for flora and fauna conservation efforts and incorporate green architecture principles into its buildings.
