While delivering a joint press statement with Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), To Lam, the President emphasized that Indonesia and Vietnam both fought against imperialism and colonialism in the past.
"With our shared values and history, we have the same goal and vision. We aim to be developed countries by 2045, the centenary of our independence," Prabowo said at the Merdeka Palace here on Monday.
He added that Indonesia and Vietnam share the commitment to elevate their people's livelihoods and eradicate extreme poverty.
Given these commonalities, the two countries have agreed to elevate their partnership to a comprehensive level.
"We are keen to strengthen the cooperation in almost all aspects: politics, economy, defense, and security, people-to-people relations, and exchanges in the education and scientific aspects," the President said.
"We admire the struggle of the Vietnamese nation, and we are glad to have this friendly relations and keen to continue and elevate it," he added.
He further underscored that mutual consensus between Indonesia and Vietnam on maintaining regional stability and peace is "the key to realize regional prosperity."
