To Lam and his entourage arrived at the palace for an official visit at around 4:45 p.m. local time. Accompanied by his wife, Ngo Phuong Ly, he was welcomed by cavalry troops and elementary students waving the national flags of Indonesia and Vietnam while shouting, "Welcome to Indonesia!"
Prabowo, dressed in a black suit, and To Lam, dressed in a navy suit, then took part in a welcoming ceremony, where the national anthems of Indonesia and Vietnam were played, accompanied by cannon blasts.
The two leaders then conducted a troop inspection and introduced the delegates from their respective countries.
Indonesia's delegation at the ceremony comprised several ministers, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
After the introductions, Prabowo invited To Lam to take a photograph and sign the state guest book at the palace. The two then held a tête-à-tête meeting.
