According to the minister, based on historical data from 2023 and 2024, as well as an online survey, the return of travelers is expected to rise starting from three days after or D+3 of Eid, reaching its peak on D+5, or Sunday, April 6, 2025.
"Based on the online survey results, it is predicted that there will be a movement of 31.4 million people, or 21.5 percent (of the population)," he remarked during a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Tuesday.
In response to the results of the return flow survey, the Transportation Ministry is coordinating with other ministries and state agencies to manage the return flow of travelers, such as through promoting toll discounts and the WFA policy during the period.
Survey respondents generally plan to utilize the collective leave period to travel back to their hometowns.
The Transportation Ministry is coordinating with other ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Public Works and the toll road operator Jasa Marga, to offer toll discounts during the return flow, aiming to evenly distribute the number of travelers returning to their regions of origin.
Based on the online survey, travelers' movement during the homecoming period is expected to keep increasing, starting from D-6, and would peak on D-3 of Eid, or Friday, March 28.
"We hope that with the WFA implementation, the travelers' movement during 2025 Eid return flow will be roughly the same as that during the return flow in 2023 and 2024," he remarked.
