During a meeting at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Tuesday, Sugiono expressed his appreciation for the increase in high-level interactions between the two countries, which includes plans for reciprocal visits by high-ranking officials from both nations.
In a written statement from his ministry received on Wednesday, Suginono noted that the visits are expected to further intensify cooperation in various fields, including defense, trade and investment, energy transition, and the digital economy.
He then encouraged the expansion of cooperation between businesses to create new investment opportunities, especially in the fields of mineral downstreaming, green infrastructure development, and strengthening the food industry in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita vision.
Moreover, he further said that France is the fourth-largest European investor in Indonesia.
In addition to economic cooperation, the minister and the ambassador highlighted the importance of multilateral cooperation to jointly face global challenges and in the efforts to realize food and nutrition security, geopolitical stability, and sustainable maritime and marine governance.
At Tuesday's meeting, the two parties also agreed to accelerate the finalization of concrete cooperation in various sectors, such as agriculture, transportation, disaster management, education, and diplomatic training.
According to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia and France also agreed to foster cooperation in other forms that are adaptive to future challenges and opportunities.
It was earlier reported that French President Emmanuel Macron would visit Indonesia in May 2025. Macron conveyed the plan to Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in Paris last February.
