Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi on Friday said that he has not received any official application for granting a permit for the establishment and operation of Indonesia Airlines.

"We have not received an official application for Indonesia Airlines operations," he informed in Jakarta on Friday.

He made the statement in response to the emergence of the Indonesia Airlines Group (INA) as a new airline.

Unlike the majority of local airlines that focus on domestic flights, INA will follow a premium concept and focus on international routes.

This airline is backed by Calypte Holding Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based company engaged in the energy, agriculture, and aviation sectors.

Acting head of international cooperation at the ministry's Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Mokhammad Khusnu, also confirmed that no permit application has been received from Indonesia Airlines.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, based on applicable regulations, all business entities wishing to carry out scheduled commercial air transportation activities in Indonesia must meet the determined administrative, technical, and operational requirements.

This refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 35 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Air Transportation, which requires each airline to have a Scheduled Commercial Air Transportation Standard Certificate.

In addition, airlines must also obtain an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

The provision is in keeping with the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 33 of 2022 concerning Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, Part 119 concerning Certification of Aircraft Operations for Air Transportation Activities.

He then stressed his commitment to ensuring that all airline operations in Indonesia meet regulatory requirements for flight safety, security, and comfort.

He said he will continue to monitor developments related to Indonesia Airlines.

"The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will provide the latest information regarding this matter," Khusnu added.
