Sirait made this statement here on Wednesday (March 19) after a meeting with President Prabowo following the findings of significant disparities in the quality of subsidized housing across different regions of Indonesia.
"The president instructed that subsidized housing does not mean it is not of quality. In fact, subsidized housing must remain of quality," Sirait emphasized, quoting Prabowo.
In his report to the president, Sirait stated that several subsidized houses were well-constructed, with proper roads, durable walls and also tiling, clean water access, and green surroundings.
Conversely, some subsidized houses faced significant issues, including susceptibility to flooding, walls cracking within a year, and substandard construction quality.
In response to these findings, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas has requested that the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) conduct an audit of subsidized housing projects.
Furthermore, Sirait stated that a report on this matter had been submitted during a meeting with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The government also continues to encourage expediting the construction of subsidized housing. Over 130 thousand subsidized housing units have been constructed and handed over, encompassing various stages of construction, contracts, and credit approvals.
So far, progress in the construction of subsidized housing includes 9,330 units under construction, 14,042 units ready for occupancy, and 19,643 units with approved bank credits.
In addition, 20,603 units are undergoing credit contract processing while awaiting disbursement.
Overall, 69 thousand units have been officially handed over to the community.
Meanwhile, specifically for civil servants (PNS), the Public Housing Savings (Tapera) program has facilitated and distributed 1,384 units, with a total realization of 1,134,937 units.
For 2025, the government has prepared a budget in the Budget Implementation List (DIPA) to construct 220 thousand subsidized housing units.
