Indonesia's Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, conveyed this in a press release from his ministry issued on Thursday.
He said that the ministry supports efforts to increase Indonesia's edible bird's nest exports to China.
Indonesia is the world's largest producer of premium edible bird's nests, adhering to rigorous international processing standards. Santoso added that the government remains committed to maintaining these high standards.
"We hope this forum will further highlight the superiority of Indonesian edible bird's nests, thereby contributing to strengthening trade relations between Indonesia and China," he remarked.
This trade exhibition, held in Jakarta, was attended by 30 Indonesian entrepreneurs and five bird's nest associations, as well as 30 members of the China Agricultural Wholesale Market Association (CAWA).
Santoso stated that cooperation between business players from both countries can create a sustainable and mutually beneficial trade ecosystem.
He added that the government aims to collaborate with associations, exporters, and local governments to further strengthen Indonesia's position as the world's leading edible bird's nest market.
In 2024, Indonesia's edible bird's nest exports to the global market were recorded at US$428 million.
In the same year, China imported edible bird's nests from around the world worth US$634.95 million, with nearly 70 percent coming from Indonesia.
Indonesia's edible bird's nest exports to China from 2020 to 2024 have shown positive growth, with an average yearly growth of 3.75 percent.
Besides China, Indonesia exports edible bird's nests to Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, the United States, and Taiwan.
