Baznas Head Noor Achmad, in a statement here on Friday, accentuated the importance of collaboration between Baznas and the government in tackling extreme poverty in Indonesia.
"Baznas is committed to synergizing with the government in the efforts to eradicate extreme poverty. Through this collaboration, we hope to make a real contribution to the welfare of the community," he remarked.
Achmad also highlighted the role of zakat (Islamic alms) as an instrument of economic empowerment. He assessed that zakat has vast potential to improve the standard of living of mustahik.
"Through various priority programs and economic empowerment programs for mustahik that are managed by Baznas, zakat can be a driver of the people's economy and will be able to support the eradication of poverty, especially extreme poverty," he remarked.
Achmad also affirmed that his agency had carried out various empowerment programs that have proven effective in improving the welfare of the mustahik.
"Baznas does not only provide assistance that is related to consumption but also productive assistance," he stressed.
The Baznas head also underscored that integrating the National Integrated Socioeconomic Data (DTSEN) with mustahik empowerment programs will improve the effectiveness of zakat distribution.
He expressed hope that with the ministry's support, Baznas would be able to reach more beneficiaries and have a more significant impact.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar welcomed the initiative, considering that strong synergy would be able to support extreme poverty eradication programs to be accurate.
He also underlined the importance of accurate data in the distribution of assistance. To this end, the use of DTSEN as a basis for the distribution of assistance and zakat is deemed crucial.
