Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Ministry emphasized its commitment to serving the public during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, including deploying surveillance cars to anticipate cellular network disruptions at airports, toll roads, and ports.

In an official statement released on Saturday, Komdigi Minister Meutya Hafid noted that the ministry plans to collaborate with cellular operators to ensure reliable telecommunication services during the holiday season.

The minister explained that the initiative is necessary, as the Komdigi Ministry projects a 20 percent increase in cellular traffic during this year's Eid compared to the previous year.

She also indicated that this plan reflects the ministry’s dedication to serving the nation, even during holidays.

"It should be noted that our primary responsibility is infrastructure. While some employees will be on leave during these critical times, others will remain on duty to oversee frequencies and ensure reliable communication channels," she remarked.

Hafid also mentioned holding several meetings with cellular operators to align efforts to minimize the risk of disruptions in telecommunication networks during the holiday season.

In addition to ensuring network reliability, she stated that the Komdigi Ministry has also worked with cellular operators to offer discounts of up to 50 percent on prepaid and postpaid internet services during the Eid period.

"We appreciate the cellular operators who share our vision," she remarked.

The minister also alerted the public to the rise in online scams during the holiday season, urging caution before opening suspicious links.

"It is crucial to be cautious when clicking links, as our observation indicates that digital scams have been on the rise as Eid draws closer," she cautioned the people.

Regarding homecoming travel, Hafid highlighted the readiness of the Mudikpedia digital platform, accessible via s.id/mudikpedia, which provides comprehensive information about this year's exodus.
