The event was highlighted by the ceremonial presentation of remission certificates by Minister Agus Andrianto to representatives of inmates at the Cibinong Class IIA Prison here on Friday.
"The remission granted for Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr reflected the state's appreciation for inmates and children in conflict with the law who have shown a positive change in their behavior and commitment to improve themselves," Andrianto stated.
The minister further noted that these remissions are granted not only to commend inmates who have improved themselves but also to fulfil the inmates' rights accorded by national laws.
"Correction facilities are not a place to restrict anyone. Instead, it is a place to self-introspect, to learn and prepare oneself to become a better part of the society," he affirmed.
