"May Sang Hyang Widi Wasa (the Supreme God) always bless and enlighten every step of the people and present peace and harmony in life to all," the president expressed in his Nyepi remarks, which were shared on Saturday through the official presidential Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia.
Meanwhile, on his official personal Instagram account @prabowo, he also conveyed that all Hindus in Indonesia observing Nyepi will receive blessings, peace, and protection from the Supreme God.
The message on his personal Instagram account was accompanied by an image showcasing Balinese temples.
Nyepi Day, which signifies the new year in the Balinese saka calendar, coincided with this Saturday, March 29, 2025. Indonesian Hindus, particularly those on Bali Island, marked the occasion by maintaining silence, fasting, and meditating for self-purification.
During the day, Bali Island will come to a standstill as Hindus refrain from travelling, making noise, working, and using fire and lights. Hindus elsewhere in Indonesia will also observe the same ritual.
Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport suspended its activities for 24 hours during Nyepi Day to honor the observance. Only emergency flights will be permitted to operate there during Nyepi.
Likewise, all ports in Bali, including Gilimanuk Port connecting Bali with East Java, were closed for the day.
