Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Migrant Workers Protection (P2MI), Christina Aryani, outlined steps to pursue legal overseas work opportunities that guarantee better protection.

"Information on legal job opportunities abroad can be found on the P2MI Ministry's social media channels and the SiskoP2MI website," she stated on Saturday, March 29.

Currently, three government-to-government (G2G) programs are active: one with South Korea focusing on manufacturing and fisheries, and separate programs with Japan and Germany in the health sector.

Aryani noted that numerous private-to-private (P2P) programs are also available, facilitated by licensed migrant worker placement companies (P3MI) and agencies abroad.

"We advise against independent placement schemes, except for professional roles. If issues arise that are not the worker's fault, holding employers accountable becomes significantly more difficult," she explained.

She encouraged prospective workers to verify the legality of placement companies by contacting the P2MI Ministry via WhatsApp or email.

"Always verify job vacancies and company registration with the P2MI Ministry through WhatsApp or email," she emphasized.

She reiterated that a moratorium remains in effect for the placement of domestic workers in Middle Eastern countries.

"Therefore, any job advertisements for domestic workers in those countries are guaranteed to be illegal," she stressed.

She highlighted that skills and language proficiency are key requirements for overseas employment.

"Each job will have specific skill requirements, in addition to standard documentation like passports. Language proficiency, tailored to the destination country, is also essential," she concluded.
