Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ancol Lagoon Beach in northern Jakarta has emerged as a favored vacation destination for visitors on the first day of the Eid holiday.

By 10 a.m. local time on Monday, numerous people were playing in the sand, swimming, and picnicking under palm trees with their families. Drivers found it relatively easy to park their cars as the area was not overcrowded.

Among the visitors was Gita from Cilacap, Central Java, who chose Ancol for her family vacation because it was cheaper and closer to her parents' home.

"It is close to where I live. It is cheaper," Gita said, adding that this was her first Eid holiday spent in Ancol with her family.

Another visitor, Sela from Cakung, Jakarta, also opted for Ancol to spend the Eid holiday, citing its accessibility and enjoyable atmosphere for strolling around.

"I came here for the Eid holiday. It is nice to walk around with my family," she said.

Sela stated that spending the Eid holidays in Ancol was not new to her, as she had visited the location multiple times, including the previous year.

Many visitors said they planned to stay at the beach until evening to enjoy the sunset.

Besides enjoying beach activities, visitors can rent sightseeing boats that navigate through the Ancol beach area, including some man-made islands and the Putri Duyung area.
