Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi affirmed that the government will optimize the management of the Eid al-Fitr homecoming return flow to ensure smooth transportation across land, sea, and air.

"We will manage the return flow optimally as we have done during the homecoming flow last week. We will evaluate from last week's movement to prepare the return flow," Purwagandhi noted in his written statement on Saturday.

The Transport Ministry has collaborated with other ministries and agencies, state-owned enterprises, and other relevant stakeholders, he stated, adding that the current plan to enhance transport facilities and infrastructure will stand.

"We are also prepared to address any congestion that may occur at particular times," he added.

The minister highlighted the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy, which allows employees to work remotely, providing greater flexibility in deciding their return trip to the city where they are working.

He said, the policy helped reduce congestion during the Eid homecoming and its return flow, making the trip more comfortable and safe for all.

"The WFA policy gave new opportunities for the people to be more flexible in arranging their return trip. We encourage the people to optimize the policy," Purwagandhi stated.

The minister commended all stakeholders who contributed to the smooth and safe Eid al-Fitr homecoming and its return flow. He also expected travelers to respect each other and observe regulations during their return.

"We thank all stakeholders -- ministries, the military, the police, state companies, as well as the travelers and other parties -- for the cooperation. We hope this cooperation will stand during the return flow," he remarked.

According to the Transportation Ministry's Transportation Policy Agency assessment, the Eid al-Fitr return flow is expected to peak on April 6, 2025, or 5 days after the Eid day.
