Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto conveyed warm wishes for Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri to heads of state and government of several countries.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, in an official release here on Friday, stated that the president extended Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone to the leaders of friendly nations.

"Through a phone call, President Prabowo both extended and received Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri greetings with several leaders and heads of friendly states," Wijaya stated.

According to the release, the five heads of state President Prabowo contacted were Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, King of Malaysia Yang Dipertuan Agung XVII Sultan Ibrahim, Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Muslims in several countries celebrated Eid al-Fitr on different dates: Sunday (March 30) in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Bahrain, while on Monday (March 31) in Oman, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Tunisia, Malaysia, Brunei, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh.

In Indonesia, the Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri falls on Monday (March 31).

President Prabowo observed Eid al-Fitr prayers at Jakarta's Istiqlal Mosque alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and several ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet.

After the Eid prayers, the president held an open house at the State Palace, inviting prominent figures, government officials, former presidents and vice presidents, as well as the general public.

Some five thousand from the general public came to the State Palace open house event.
