Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto expressed optimism that Indonesia could become the "world's food barn" during a discussion with several governors participating in the simultaneous harvest activity across 14 provinces.

President Prabowo, who led the harvest activity from Majalengka, West Java, on Monday, stated that the vision of making Indonesia a global food barn can be achieved as long as there are more inclusive policies that favor farmers.

"I believe we will become the world's rice barn. We will provide assistance to countries that are struggling. Our goal is good and noble, and of course, we want our people and our farmers to live well and prosper," he stated.

During the discussion, several governors expressed their appreciation for the new policies aimed at benefiting farmers and boosting land productivity.

Among the attendees were Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, and Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, who deliberated on various policies.

They discussed policies that include setting the price of unhulled rice at Rp6,500 per kilogram and direct provision of fertilizers, agricultural tools, and machinery to farmers.

According to the governors, these policies have successfully increased the productivity of agricultural land in various regions.

For instance, in South Sulawesi, farmers produced 1,993 tons of unhulled rice during the first quarter of 2025—a figure equivalent to the total annual harvest from the previous year.

President Prabowo welcomed the reports from each region, which presented the progress of their agricultural productivity.

He expressed optimism that in the future, more farmers would benefit from these policies that favor them.
