"Since the past, we have been taught that every village must have a food barn. Every village. So, this is our big strategy," he said in a broadcast accessed via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account in Jakarta on Monday.
He delivered the remarks during the 2024 Inflation Control Coordination Meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
At the meeting, the President encouraged building food self-sufficiency down to the district and sub-district levels by tapping the nation's local wisdom.
He lauded the steps taken by several regions, such as South Sumatra province, which has implemented a simultaneous planting movement that aligns with the government's big strategy for improving national food self-sufficiency.
The President also praised the lowering of national inflation below 3 percent despite global uncertainty, a fact, he said, that should be appreciated.
"But overall, actually, our inflation in its current condition, I think we are quite grateful, below 3 percent inflation, I think that is already an achievement," he added.
At the same time, the President asked the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, to continue the inflation control mechanism, considering the current national inflation rate is still below 3 percent.
According to the President, Indonesia's inflation control mechanism will become a case study for other countries.
"I think one day, this will be a case study; many countries will learn from us," he said.
