He explained that such a committee is essential to guide Danantara in channeling capital into projects focused on the downstreaming and processing of natural resources—sectors he believes demand advanced technology.
“A reliable technology committee is a must, considering that most of the targeted projects involve processing,” Prabowo said during an interview with senior journalists from major media outlets on Sunday, which aired on state broadcaster TVRI on Tuesday.
He expressed a desire for the committee to be comprised of experts from national engineering faculties.
“We want committee members from engineering backgrounds—talents from various technical disciplines who are well-versed in technology—to help us evaluate it,” he explained.
Prabowo voiced strong confidence in Danantara’s potential, saying the fund is expected to make meaningful, long-term contributions to national development.
He noted that Danantara was created to prudently manage Rp300 trillion (approximately US$17.7 billion) sourced from budget efficiency measures implemented across central and regional government institutions.
“This fund will remain available next year. I see it as savings to be managed by Danantara for the benefit of future generations,” he said.
Addressing public concerns about transparency, Prabowo underscored that Danantara will be overseen by a monitoring and accountability committee that includes officials from key state institutions, such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the National Police (Polri), and the Attorney General’s Office.
