As per a live broadcast streamed on the Egyptian Presidential Palace's official YouTube channel, which was accessed from Jakarta, the welcome ceremony for Prabowo and his delegation took place at 5 p.m. Jakarta time, or noon Cairo time.
In the footage, President Prabowo could be seen dressed in a suit, tie, and trousers, all in the same shade of dark blue, complete with a black peci hat. The Egyptian leader matched Prabowo's formal style, but left his head uncovered.
After entering the palace complex, Prabowo and El-Sisi walked side by side in the ceremonial procession, which featured honor guards.
The Indonesian national anthem Indonesia Raya was played, followed by Egypt's national hymn Bilady Bilady Bilady.
Shortly after the welcome ceremony concluded, the broadcast ended.
Earlier, Prabowo's secretariat had announced that he was scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with El-Sisi at the palace on Saturday.
Yusuf Permana, deputy for protocol, press, and media at the secretariat, said that the two leaders will engage in a one-on-one discussion covering regional geopolitics, the situation in Gaza, and other strategic matters.
Following their meeting, Prabowo and El-Sisi are expected to witness the signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, which aims to enhance bilateral relations across multiple sectors. Thereafter, they will attend a state luncheon, which will mark the end of the visit agenda.
Egypt is the third stop on President Prabowo's Middle East diplomatic tour, which began on Wednesday with President Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates hosting him in Abu Dhabi.
Prabowo arrived in Cairo at 7:25 p.m. local time on Friday, after completing his visit to Türkiye, where he took part in the 2025 Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
After completing his engagements with El-Sisi, the Indonesian head of state is scheduled to leave for Doha, Qatar, to continue his Middle East tour.
