"President Prabowo will consult with President El-Sisi, discussing regional geopolitics, the situation in Gaza, and other strategic matters," Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of Prabowo's secretariat, noted in a press release cited here on Saturday.
Egypt marks the third stop on President Prabowo’s Middle East diplomatic tour, which began on Wednesday (April 9), when he was hosted by President Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.
Prabowo arrived in Cairo on Friday (April 11) at 7:25 p.m. local time, following his visit to Turkey, where he participated in the 2025 Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Egyptian Public Business Sector Minister Mohamed Ibrahim Ahmad Shimi, Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Yasser Hasan Farah Elshemy, and Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf, among others.
Permana announced that President Prabowo is scheduled to arrive at Al-Ittihadiya Palace at around 11 a.m. Cairo time.
There, the Indonesian president will receive a state welcome ceremony, which will include the playing of both countries' national anthems and a mutual introduction of their respective delegations.
Following the ceremony, Presidents Prabowo and El-Sisi will hold a one-on-one meeting to discuss their countries' longstanding relations and Middle Eastern geopolitics, with a special focus on Israel's invasion of Gaza.
The two leaders will then witness the signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, aimed at strengthening Indonesia-Egypt ties across various sectors.
A state luncheon will conclude the diplomatic activities at the palace.
"After wrapping up his agenda at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, President Prabowo will head to an airport to continue his Middle East tour, this time to Doha, Qatar," Permana concluded.
