The team, sent by President Prabowo Subianto, includes several ministers and heads of government agencies.
"From April 16-23, several ministers assigned by the president will be there, including the Chair of the Financial Services Authority," Hartarto said in a press conference on Monday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono departed for Washington, DC on Monday to prepare for the negotiation process, while Hartarto and Deputy Chair of the National Economic Council (DEN) Mari Elka Pangestu will fly to the US on Tuesday.
"We will meet with the USTR (United States Trade Representative), the Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of State, and the Secretary of the Treasury," Hartarto said.
He remarked that Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Djiwandono will also travel to the US to help with the negotiations.
Indrawati is also set to attend the Spring Meeting of the IMF-World Bank in Washington, DC, which will be held on April 21-26.
The Indonesian delegation has prepared several proposals for the negotiation talks.
Indonesia plans to propose the revitalization of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA), and the deregulation of Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) by relaxing the domestic component level (TKDN) requirement in the information and communications technology sector.
To encourage greater US imports and investment, Indonesia is also preparing fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, such as reducing import duties and value-added tax on imports.
