“Indonesia and China have ample room for expanded collaboration in the fields of information and technology, particularly artificial intelligence, given its increasingly widespread daily use,” he noted in a statement received by ANTARA in Beijing on Saturday.
During the visit on Thursday (April 17), Soeparno met with Huawei Technologies' Vice President for Foreign Affairs, Wang Ke, and Huawei Global's Director of Asian Affairs, Anna Liu.
The Indonesian parliamentarian expressed confidence that the Chinese company has a genuine interest in working collaboratively with stakeholders and policymakers in Indonesia.
“China’s rapid progress in information technology has prompted the Indonesian government to recruit and develop top talent in this field. We hope Huawei will play a role in advancing Indonesia’s IT capabilities,” he stated.
He also expressed hope that, in addition to marketing its products in Indonesia, the firm would contribute to knowledge and capacity transfer to young national talents.
Soeparno used his meeting with Huawei’s leadership to also exchange views on Indonesia–China economic relations.
“China and Indonesia have their own approaches to navigating the ongoing global tariff war. However, both countries respect these differences,” he remarked.
Starting his China visit on April 13, the MPR Deputy Speaker had previously met with Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Guo Fang, China's Deputy Minister of Ecology and Environment.
Additionally, he visited the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center.
