Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that Indonesia is ready to enhance cooperation in the agricultural sector with Palestine and Japan as a strategic step to strengthen food security and boost national economic growth.

He explained that Palestine's agriculture minister is scheduled to visit Indonesia in May 2025 to discuss the agricultural collaboration plan and explore the potential for a long-term partnership between the two countries.

Sulaiman conveyed this during a coordination meeting with agricultural extension workers held both online and offline in Jakarta on Saturday.

In addition to the Palestinian minister, Japan's agriculture minister is scheduled to hold an official meeting with the Indonesian government next week to explore new, mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of sustainable agriculture.

According to Sulaiman, cooperation between Indonesia and Palestine will not only focus on agriculture but also involve strategic investments, enabling both countries to grow together through various innovative agricultural programs.

He emphasized that the collaboration is aimed at strengthening the national agricultural sector and opening new opportunities for Indonesia, Palestine, and Japan in the field of agriculture.

The minister also reaffirmed Indonesia's readiness to assist Palestine in developing its agricultural products.

"Indonesia always supports Palestine. We appreciate Palestine and are ready to provide opportunities for them to develop their agricultural products in Indonesia," he said in a statement confirmed here on Friday.

Earlier, Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun visited the Ministry of Agriculture office in Jakarta on Thursday.

In his remarks, the ambassador expressed gratitude for Indonesia's ongoing support for Palestine, particularly in the agricultural sector.

He affirmed that the Indonesian agriculture minister was highly committed to enhancing cooperation between the two countries, especially in the agricultural field.

The ambassador also expressed hope that Palestinian agricultural experts and professionals could be sent to Indonesia to learn and collaborate on various agricultural projects.
