Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, received the Order of Timor-Leste, the highest honor granted by the government of Timor-Leste, at the country's embassy in Jakarta on Monday.
In a statement released here, head of the Polri's bureau of public relations, Brig. General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, informed that the award serves as recognition of General Prabowo's contributions to the development of democracy, peace-building, and national stability in Timor-Leste.
He noted that the Polri chief is regarded as a prominent figure in efforts to enhance human resource capacity at the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) and maintain regional security.
He also helped preserve order during Pope Francis' visit to Indonesia and Timor-Leste in September 2024.
"This accolade serves as a testament to Polri's contributions to the international community, especially in terms of the strengthening of our bilateral ties with Timor-Leste," Andiko said.
In addition to the general, four Polri high-ranking officers were bestowed the Medal of Timor-Leste for their dedication.
They included head of the Education and Training Agency (Lemdiklat), Commissioner Gen. Chryshnanda Dwilaksana, and head of the international relations division, Inspector Gen. Krishna Murti.
During the award ceremony, Dwilaksana and the chief of PNTL also inked an updated agreement on cooperation in police capacity-building.
According to Andiko, the renewal of the cooperation pact represents the shared commitment of the two police institutions to mutually enhancing their professionalism and technical capabilities while intensifying information exchange.
The updated pact covers capacity-building programs in investigation, traffic management, intelligence, and community empowerment. It also establishes a framework for joint internships, seminars, and workshops.
Further, it complements the memorandum of understanding on Polri–PNTL partnership, which has been automatically renewed since its inception in 2009.
