Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Police (Polri) has prepared security measures ahead of International Labor Day (May Day), which will be marked by an event organized by Indonesian workers' unions on Thursday.

Securing traffic routes will be the top priority during the May Day celebration, according to Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, chief of Polri's Traffic Corps (Korlantas).

"We guarantee escort services, whether centrally managed or vehicle-attached. Korlantas' role is to support and strengthen overall security. In particular, we must clearly define technical security measures in each sector," he said on Wednesday.

He added that heightened security is essential this year because, for the first time, the President will attend the May Day commemoration in person.

The presence of President Prabowo Subianto at the Labor Day event makes security arrangements even more critical.

"This is the first time a President will be present. Therefore, in addition to securing public access routes, we are also preparing a dedicated VVIP route, which will be managed by the Greater Jakarta Police," Suryonugroho stated.

He emphasized that these security responsibilities are not only duties but also an honor, to be carried out professionally from start to finish.

He also urged all Korlantas personnel to provide timely field updates to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.

The 2025 International Labor Day celebration is scheduled to take place at the National Monument (Monas) Square in Jakarta on May 1. Around 200,000 workers from Jakarta and surrounding areas are expected to attend.
