Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti emphasized that children from underprivileged families should not drop out of school, as his side is currently organizing primary and secondary education.

The minister delivered this message in his address as part of the commemoration of National Education Day on May 2.

"Do not think there is no money to study. The government will strive to help," he stated at the Leuwibatu 02-03 Elementary School in Bogor, West Java, on Friday.

He noted that one of the forms of government assistance that underprivileged communities can utilize is the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) funding assistance.

Mu'ti invited the four pillars of education -- schools, families, communities, and media -- to work together in building a quality education ecosystem for all, including disseminating information about various educational assistance provided by the government.

On that occasion, he also highlighted President Prabowo Subianto's plan to launch several priority education programs, including constructing and renovating 10,440 schools and various assistance for teachers.

The four education programs to be launched on National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2025 are:

1. School revitalization

School revitalization is one of the four programs to be launched by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, along with President Prabowo Subianto, on Hardiknas 2025. Minister Mu'ti indicated earlier that 10,440 schools would participate in this program.

The program is allocated Rp17.1 trillion (US$995 million), transferred from the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

2. Education digitalization

Education digitalization is related to the provision of smart boards or interactive whiteboards to schools. Minister Mu'ti emphasized that funding for this program has been prepared and is ready to be executed.

3. Tuition assistance for teachers

The minister said that the assistance program is intended for teachers to complete their education up to a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree. Teachers will receive educational assistance per semester of Rp3 million (US$174).

4. Assistance for honorary teachers

The ministry will launch a program related to assistance for honorary teachers. He stated that honorary teachers will receive Rp300 thousand per month (US$17).
