"The Eid al-Fitr homecoming went smoothly. I received a report that our homecoming this year was the best in history," he informed at a Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
According to Prabowo, the number of accidents during this year's Eid al-Fitr homecoming period was the lowest on record and reflected a decrease of 30 percent. Meanwhile, the number of home-bound travelers increased compared to the previous year, he highlighted.
He added that the smooth homecoming reflects the success of control measures, and not a decline in public interest.
He also lauded several officials, including the chief of National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, commander of the National Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto, and Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, who advised him in implementing the work-from-anywhere scheme.
This policy, he said, allowed people to return to their hometowns earlier before the holiday period begins.
The President led the Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office on Monday afternoon, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
The meeting, which was the third such meeting this year, was attended by almost all ministers of the Red and White Cabinet and heads of agencies, including head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, and Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman.
The previous Cabinet meeting was held on March 21, 2025, to discuss the government's preparations ahead of Eid al-Fitr, which fell on March 31.
On April 12, Minister Purwagandhi reported that the number of traffic accidents during the Eid al-Fitr transportation period stood at 4,640 cases, down 34.31 percent compared to the year-ago period.
