"Cooperation in the academic field is very important for increasing cooperation between the two countries," the ambassador remarked after his meeting with Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia here on Tuesday.
The ambassador affirmed that relations between both nations have achieved significant progress in various fields and levels. Historically, the two countries have also enjoyed close ties.
With today's meeting at the embassy, which was also attended by rectors from 10 leading universities in Indonesia, Ambassador Amodi expressed hope that cooperation in the field of education would continue to grow, encouraging closer relations between the two countries.
"Cooperation in the field of education between campuses of the two countries will naturally provide an important contribution to increasing cooperation between the two countries and cooperation in other fields that can be utilized by both countries," he remarked.
"Insya Allah, we hope that this cooperation will continue to increase between the two countries and continue to experience extraordinary developments in the future," he remarked.
He also noted that several cooperation proposals presented by the higher education and science minister at the meeting would be reviewed promptly to implement them as soon as possible.
The minister's proposals at the meeting included joint research collaboration between universities in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia and between professors in both countries.
Minister Yuliarto also proposed a joint degree or double degree program collaboration between campuses in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
"We also hope to build cooperation for visiting professors, with professors from Saudi Arabia and Indonesia visiting each other. Through joint and double degree collaborations, our students can be guided jointly by professors in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia," he remarked.
Yuliarto stated that the Indonesian government views campuses in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia as having equal standing, given the similar rankings of universities from both countries among the world's best.
With this equal standing, he expressed hope that cooperation between campuses in both countries would proceed more smoothly and that joint progress could also be achieved.
