“The president and the government are genuinely concerned,” State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated at the Presidential Palace here on Friday.
The president is coordinating with the Attorney General and the Police chief to address this issue, including considering preventive measures against rogue mass organizations, as the government views such "preman" activities by them as “unacceptable.”
“If they commit criminal acts, the government will not tolerate it, and options are open (for prosecution). We should also evaluate their activities,” Hadi stated.

The minister explained that the government has established an integrated task force to act against mass organizations that disrupt public life and investment activities, effective Tuesday (May 6).
He highlighted that the task force, the police, and the Home Affairs Ministry will handle actions against problematic mass organizations, especially unregistered organizations.
At the launch of the task force on Tuesday, Home Minister Tito Karnavian said the team will act against groups operating like "preman" and public organizations that extort business owners.
He remarked that the team operates under the purview of the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs.
